Somerset County completes purchase of more open space in Hillsborough

MIKE DEAK / MYCENTRALJERSEY.COM – Somerset County has completed the acquisition of more than 400 acres of land that will be preserved as open space on Sourland Mountain in the western part of Hillsborough Township.

Real estate investor Bryce Thompson, of Princeton, handed over the deed to the land off Wertsville and Montgomery roads to the Somerset County Open Space program on Dec. 19.

The acquisition of the land was completed through a partnership with the New Jersey Conservation Foundation and Hillsborough Township, with additional grant funding provided from Conservation Resources Inc. and the State Green Acres Program.
