Bald eagle spotted in Bayonne rescued

RON ZEITLINGER / JERSEY JOURNAL – The bald eagle that made a pit stop in Bayonne a couple of weeks ago is now emaciated and fighting for his life at an eagle rehabilitation facility in Morris County.

Bayonne residents watched in awe as the bird landed at Ninth Street and Avenue A, and then took a tour of the neighborhood on Nov. 10. One resident said he believed the bald eagle was limping.

It wasn’t limping, but it was very weak, said Chris Soucy, director of the Raptor Trust in Millington, where the bird was brought after it was located in a yard in Staten Island on Nov. 17 …
