Environmental groups seek high court review of Exxon deal

AP / U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT – Environmental groups are taking their opposition to New Jersey’s $225 million settlement with Exxon Mobil to the state Supreme Court.

The groups filed their intent to appeal to the high court on Thursday.

The filing on behalf of New Jersey Sierra Club, Clean Water Action, Environment New Jersey, Delaware Riverkeeper Network and Delaware Riverkeeper come after an appellate court ruled against them last month.

The groups say that then-Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, settled in 2015 for “pennies on the dollar” over years of pollution at two refinery sites …
