Murphy administration rejects billionaire’s golf course expansion onto Liberty State Park

SCOTT FALLON / NORTHJERSEY.COM – The Murphy administration on Friday rejected a proposal by a one of the world’s most exclusive golf clubs to build three holes on a bucolic portion of Liberty State Park used by students to learn about nature.

In a letter to Liberty National Golf Club, the state Department of Environmental Protection said it would “reject all bids” and not “pursue the project at this time” to expand onto the Caven Point peninsula that juts out into New York Harbor with unfettered views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty …
