MATT KADOSH / NORTHJERSEY.COM – Municipal officials in Millburn have been asked to join a group opposing construction of a crude oil pipeline that, if built, would cross through nearby municipalities and, advocates say, threaten the region’s drinking water.

The proposed 178-mile dual pipeline system extending from Albany, N.Y., to Linden would daily transport an estimated 16.8 million gallons of crude oil south and refined product north.

The Municipal Pipeline Group is a consortium of 15 municipalities in North Jersey that have joined to oppose the proposed construction of the Pilgrim Pipeline …
