Editorial: Don’t trust EPA Superfund ‘emphasis’


MYCENTRALJERSEY.COM – Be wary of the Environmental Protection Agency’s sudden “emphasis” on further cleanup at the American Cyanamid Superfund site in Bridgewater.

Be wary, in fact, of any supposed protection measures coming out of the exceedingly anti-environment Trump Administration and an agency headed by the EPA-hating Scott Pruitt. None of them can be trusted.

It doesn’t hurt to maintain hope in the feds’ sincerity, of course. Some of the details fleshed out by EPA Regional Administrator Pete Lopez at the site Wednesday sound superficially encouraging. A new cleanup plan for wastewater lagoons that comprise some of the most toxic parts of the site will involve a combination of removing and on-site treatment of contaminated material.
