MYCENTRALJERSEY.COM – New Jersey is about to be flush with some fresh cash to pour into its open spaces.

Yes, we’re exaggerating just a bit. The state’s rarely flush with anything these days – and any money spent in one place inevitably takes away from something else.

But despite New Jerseyans’ unending frustrations over high taxes and unwise spending, they’ve always been willing to devote a little extra to the state’s precious and dwindling green spaces. They showed that again in 2014, approving a referendum that didn’t add any taxes, but instead increased the portion of corporate business taxes devoted to preservation programs from 4 percent to 6 percent. That begins under the next state budget in July 2020, amounting to an estimated annual total of about $155 million …
