Editorial: Report on Edgewater fumes is troubling on many fronts

NORTHJERSEY.COM – In March 2018, after Edgewater residents had been complaining for months about noxious fumes emanating from the Quanta Superfund site, a spokesman for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in a statement to NorthJersey.com, essentially told those residents to grin and bear it.

They were not in danger, the agency said, and the smells would pass eventually.

“There is no immediate health risk, based on available data,” the spokesman said at the time. “However, EPA recognizes that the odor is a nuisance, and we are working to minimize it to the extent possible.” …
