Burlington County Freeholders still wrestling with pipeline issues

DAVID LEVINSKY / BURLINGTON COUNTY TIMES – The pipeline has become one of the trickiest issues inherited by the new Democratic-controlled freeholder board, which has faced public pressure to take stronger action against allowing construction of the line to proceed at the same time the board’s attorneys have tried to defend the county from lawsuits related to the project.

MOUNT HOLLY — Since taking power in January, the Democratic majority on the Burlington County Board of Freeholders has repeatedly expressed opposition to a controversial natural gas pipeline planned to run through or near the county’s northern towns.

Freeholder Director Tom Pullion has even sent letters to both Gov. Phil Murphy and the leadership of the state Board of Public Utilities urging reconsideration of the New Jersey Natural Gas line’s approvals and route through Chesterfield and North Hanover …
