Editorial: Trump’s environmental record is smoke and mirrors. But mostly smoke.

STAR-LEDGER – In a breathtaking spectacle of fake news, Donald Trump took a joyful dumpster dive into his own environmental record Monday, and liked what he found.

It was on the same day that his administration repealed a rule that reduced carbon emissions from coal-fired plants, which the Environmental Protection Agency admits will cause 1,400 premature pollution-related deaths per year.

It was also the day that three-quarters of an inch of rain fell on Washington in 11 minutes, which flooded the White House basement.

So the speech was remarkable for its timing and mendacity …
