DAN RADEL / APP.COM – In his long career, Bob Schoelkepf, the executive director of the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, has seen quite a few whales wash up on New Jersey shores dead or dying.

But never before had he seen one with as many propeller cuts on it as he did on the body of a humpback whale that stranded Sunday at Island Beach State Park.
