Black bear hunting season in NJ extended by four days

KEIDY ORTIZ / NORTHJERSEY.COM – Hunters in New Jersey will be able to kill more black bears this month as the season has been extended for four days to Saturday, state officials said.

The state Department of Environmental Protection mandated that the Division of Fish and Wildlife extend the bear hunting season because the harvest rate did not achieve the 20 percent threshold. Currently, it’s just under 15 percent.
